Seminars for International Church Leaders, Missionaries, Mission Executives,
Pastors, Educators, Students, and Lay Leaders

Andrew Walls and Mano Rumalshah

OMSC does not charge a fee for admissions or applications and does not retain admissions representatives or consultants. The application information and forms are free.

Our Study Program includes a variety of seminars designed for anyone who is interested in learning more about mission work throughout the world. Seminars are led by well-known missions leaders and professors of mission from various seminaries and colleges.

OMSC offers a certificate in mission studies to residents who participate in 100 or more combined hours of seminars, lectures, and forums during the program year. A letter of verification may be given upon request for a resident’s agency, church, or academic institution. Work done at OMSC may qualify for credit toward a degree at other institutions that grant their approval according to their own standards. OMSC has affiliate status in the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada and is a member of the Society for the Advancement of Continuing Education for Ministry. CEUs are available to those participating in the Study Program. Because the number of guest rooms available at OMSC is limited, please register and reserve a guest room early. A nearby hotel offers OMSC guests a discount.

While applications for study and residency for the full academic year are given priority, applications from persons wishing to study for shorter periods are welcome.

Those registering for individual seminars should be aware (1) that OMSC cannot provide visa assistance to persons registering for individual seminars and (2) that the registration fees for individual seminars are non-refundable.

Payment due in advance (nonrefundable). If you are unable to attend, the fee is fully applicable to a future seminar for you, up to one year later. Spouses may register at half the stated fee. Accommodations and all meals are additional costs. See below.

If you are a long-term resident participating in one semester or more of consecutive weeks of seminars or if you are a cosponsor representative, the seminar registration fees are waived. Long-term residents pay a monthly assessment for accommodations. Ask OMSC for an Application for Study and Residence rather than completing the Study Program Registration.

All payments must be in U.S. currency by checks drawn on a U.S. bank, by MasterCard or VISA, or by International Money Order.

Because the number of guest rooms available at OMSC is limited, it is well to register and to reserve a guest room early. When the guest rooms are filled, seminar participants are referred to a nearby motel that, though its rate is higher, offers OMSC guests a discount.

Pay on arrival. Room: single or double, with common bath, $45 per person per night. Meals additional at a nearby dining hall. Most seminars begin Monday afternoon and end by noon Friday, involving four nights. You are welcome to stay at OMSC at the daily rate on weekends after or between seminars if space is available.

Most seminars begin Monday with registration at 1:15 p.m. and the first session at 1:30 p.m. There are regular morning and afternoon sessions Tuesday through Thursday, with the final session on Friday morning (8 sessions in all). Check dates and times closely for exceptions to this pattern.

When driving from New York or Boston on I-95, turn north onto I-91. Take exit 3 (Trumbull Street) from I-91. Continue for four traffic lights to Prospect Street and turn right. Go about one mile to OMSC, on the left. Trains and bus service are available from Boston and New York to Union Station in New Haven. From Union Station, take a taxi to OMSC. Directions are online at directions.

Applications for long-term study and residence at OMSC are handled differently from registration for individual weekly seminars.

Applicants for long-term study and residence at OMSC should see residency overview for details. Then they need to e-mail with a postal address. An application packet will be mailed to them.

To register for individual seminars (short-term study), please print the current Study Program brochure (found online and linked at the top of this page), complete the simple form on the final page, and mail or fax it to OMSC with your payment.

Registration forms, which are not filled out completely, cannot be processed. The registration form cannot be processed until the appropriate seminar registration fee has been received. Seminar registration fees are non-refundable

Many of OMSC’s programs are cosponsored by one or more mission agencies and churches. Cosponsors provide a subsidy for each week they choose to cosponsor. In appreciation, OMSC waives registration fees for up to four persons nominated by the agency or church to attend OMSC programs. The benefit of waived fees applies throughout the academic year; it is not limited to the particular programs selected for cosponsorship. If you see that your agency or church is a cosponsor, you are encouraged to ask if you may use one of the waived registration fees.
