Visa Requirements for Residency

Applicants from outside the United States who are accepted for long-term study and residence must apply for (or have) a visa.  OMSC will provide all accepted applicants with a letter of invitation and the DS-2019 form needed to apply for a J-1 (Exchange Visitor) visa; the accompanying spouse or children will receive a letter and form to apply for a J-2 visa.  The letter and form will be sent to you by Federal Express or DHL approximately 5 months prior to your arrival at OMSC.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to pay the fees required by the U.S. Government for the visa application.  Currently applicants are required to pay a fee to SEVIS (the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System).  The SEVIS fee for J-1 applicants is $100; there is no SEVIS fee for the spouse and dependent children (J-2 applicants). (Scholarship recipients will be reimbursed this fee when they arrive at OMSC.)  All fees are subject to change.
