How to Develop Mission and Church Archives. Ms. Martha Lund Smalley, research services librarian at Yale Divinity School Library, New Haven, Connecticut, helps missionaries and church leaders identify, organize, and preserve essential records. Eight sessions. $175

The Internet and Mission: Getting Started.
In a hands-on workshop, Mr. Wilson Thomas, Wilson Thomas Systems, Bedford, New Hampshire, and Dr. Dwight P. Baker, OMSC associate director, show how to get the most out of the World Wide Web for mission research. Eight sessions. $175

September 28-October 2 Doing Oral History: Helping Christians Tell Their Own Story. Dr. Jean-Paul Wiest, director of the Jesuit Beijing Center, Beijing, China, and Ms. Michele Sigg, DACB project manager, share skills and techniques for documenting mission and church history. Eight sessions. $175

October 12-16 Nurturing and Educating Transcultural Kids. Ms. Janet Blomberg and Ms. Elizabeth Stephens of Interaction International help you help your children meet the challenges they face as third-culture persons. Cosponsored by St. John's Episcopal Church (New Haven). Eight sessions. $175

October 19-23 Leadership, Fund-raising, and Donor Development for Missions. Mr. Rob Martin, First Fruit Institute, Newport Beach, California, outlines steps for building the support base, including foundation funding, for mission. Cosponsored by Wycliffe International. Eight sessions. $175

November 3-6 The Gospel of Peace at Work in a World of Conflict. Dr. Peter Kuzmic, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, South Hamilton, Massachusetts, and Evangelical Theological Seminary, Osijek, Croatia, examines a variety of Christian approaches to peacemaking and considers contemporary examples of reconciliation ministry. November 9-13 The Church on Six Continents: Many Strands in One Tapestry. Dr. Andrew F. Walls, honorary professor, University of Edinburgh, and former director of the Centre for the Study of Christianity in the Non-Western World, presents OMSC's fifth Distinguished Mission Lectureship series (five lectures with discussions). Consultation with participants on topics of interest. November 30-December 4 Grounding Theology in Cultural Context: Lessons from the South Pacific. Rev. Randall Prior, Uniting Church Theological College, Melbourne, Australia, and senior mission scholar in residence at OMSC, draws lessons from the post-independence South Pacific for the way we understand theology and how we do theology. December 7-11 Climate Change and Catastrophe: Paradigms of Response in Christian Mission. Dr. Allison M. Howell, Akrofi-Christaller Institute for Theology, Mission, and Culture, Akropong-Akuapem, Ghana, and an OMSC senior mission scholar in residence, considers Christian responses to climate change--something that is not new in human history--and the catastrophes that often accompany climate change, so as to provide a framework for Christian mission today in facing new crises. January 4-8, 2010 Held at OMSC, New Haven, Connecticut Christian World Mission Today: A Survey. In the sessions of week one, multiple presenters survey Christian world mission today. Seven sessions with seven different presenters during week one. $175

January 11-15 Held at OMSC Viewing the Atonement Through a New Lens. Dr. Mark Baker, Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary, Fresno, California, uses experience in a Tegucigalpa barrio as a lens to help missionaries view the atonement with new eyes. Eight sessions. $175

January 18-22 Held at OMSC The Gospel and Our Cultures: Postcolonial Anthropology for Mission in a Globalizing World. Dr. Michael Rynkiewich, professor of anthropology, Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, Kentucky, introduces the contributions an anthropological perspective offers for missionary practice. Cosponsored by United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries. Eight sessions. $175

January 25-29 Held at OMSC Ethnicity as Gift and Barrier: Human Identity and Christian Mission. Dr. Tite Tienou, dean, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, Illinois, works from first-hand experience in Africa to identify the "tribal" issues faced by the global church in mission. Cosponsored by Black Rock Congregational Church (Fairfield, Connecticut). Eight sessions. $175

February 22-26, 2010 Digital Video and Global Christianity. Dr. James M. Ault, James Ault Productions, Northampton, Massachusetts, in a practical workshop, covers how to use digital video to portray the life of faith in community. Eight sessions. $175

March 1-5 Christian Faith and the Muslim World. (revised May 1, 2009) Dr. Charles Amjad-Ali, Martin Luther King Jr. professor for justice and Christian community, Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota, examines contemporary Christian-Muslim tensions in the light of Islamic philosophy and jurisprudence. Cosponsored by First Presbyterian Church (New Haven). Eight sessions. $175

March 15-19 Gender and Power in African Christianity. Dr. Philomena Njeri Mwaura, senior lecturer in philosophy and religious studies, Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya, and OMSC senior mission scholar in residence, will draw on the writings of African women theologians to discuss key themes in African Christianity, for example, the Bible, women's experience of the church, African culture, Christology, power, and decision making. March 22-26 Whole Gospel, Whole World, Whole Person. Dr. F. Albert "Al" Tizon, Palmer Theological Seminary, Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, provides an overview of the history, theology, and spirituality of the holistic missionary movement among evangelicals since Lausanne 1974. April 13-16 Incarnational Mission in a Troubled World. Dr. Jonathan J. April 19-23 Models of Leadership in Mission. Rev. George Kovoor, Trinity College, Bristol, United Kingdom, brings wide ecclesiastical and international experience to evaluation of differing models of leadership for mission.
