Steve and Barbara Shantz have been supporting one another in their respective mission ministries for 35 years. This week will feature both of their mature ministries and, sprinkled throughout, they will let you in on some secrets of how, over the years, they’ve had a successful marriage and family life while encouraging one another to develop their gifts and talents to be used in Kingdom work.
Steve has spent most of his career as a technical missionary with TWR (Trans World Radio) culminating in eight years as CIO (Chief Information Officer.) He is now the VP of TWR’s Ministry for South America and the Caribbean and has vital lessons for you on applying technology to ministry for optimum affect. Steve will use Monday and Tuesday of this study week looking at technology and missions to help you analyze your unique needs. How much money and effort should be spent on technology in your ministry? He will cap off the week Friday morning with practical suggestions for technology and fundraising in missions.
Barbara has spent almost 15 years studying the affects of financial dependency in missions and now co-leads the Lausanne Ministry Fundraising Network. Why are there no biblical models of a permanent funding relationship with a foreign funder, yet we accept that as normal for most mission work today? Is it possible to fund local ministry in less developed nations by local funds instead of foreign funds? Barbara will present you with her (and others’) findings along with practical solutions for funding your ministry’s vision on Wednesday and Thursday of this study week. www.ministryfundraisingnetwork.org
