2016‒2017 Artist: Ronnie Farmer, Jr.
An innovative visual artist, Ronnie Farmer, Jr., expresses great interest in the intersection of art and theology and uses color in a special way when he paints common images in engaging schemes. A native of Augusta, Georgia, Farmer’s art career began at Augusta’s John S. Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School. Later he moved to Kentucky and earned a Bachelor of Art in Religion from Berea College and a Master of Art (with an emphasis in Worship and the Arts) from Asbury Theological Seminary. The majority of Ronnie’s paintings (www.ronniefarmerjr.com) are inspired by individuals who have journeyed through difficult experiences. His prayer is that his art transforms hearts for Christ.
Painting: The King of Justice, 2015, oil on canvas, 72 X 48 inches. "This painting, which is a contemporary diptych, is an interpretation of Revelation 5:5, where Christ is celebrated as 'the Lion of the tribe of Judah' and coined as the one who 'has conquered,'" Ronnie said. "This piece seeks to celebrate God's eventual victory over all evil and injustice in the earth through the victory obtained by Jesus at the cross," he added. The painting was completed for TEAM's 125th anniversary celebration.
