Nyoman Darsane (b.1939), was born and raised as a Hindu. He converted to Christianity at age seventeen and suffered from the consequent ostracism of his family and village. He received an academic art training in Java. He has enjoyed a distinguished career in Bali and is well known and respected within the Asian sacred art community.
Darsane was one of five artists chosen for the Summer of 2007 exhibition "The Christian Story: Five Asian Artists Today," held at the Museum of Biblical Art (MOBIA) in New York City. The catalog for that exhibition, which includes more biographical information, reproductions and critical essays, is available from the Mobia store.
